What it is
CircleBy is a professional networking app for people in the same place at the same time: a conference, a co-working space, a networking event or a trade show. Its job is to make the first in-person introduction easier. It counts as working when people put their phones down and start talking.
How it works
You sign up, choose to go visible, see professionals nearby, send one of them a ping, and meet once they accept.
Decisions we made
- Being visible is a choice you make each time, with one tap on the home screen. Visibility switches itself off after 60 minutes.
- The app only looks within about a mile and a half of you.
- Location is never stored. It is used live for matching and then dropped.
- A chat only opens after both people have accepted.
- You can sign up with LinkedIn, which fills in your name, job title, company and photo, or with an email address.
My role
I co-founded CircleBy with Bami Awonusi. I am the software engineer and handle the technical side, including the backend. Bami leads the brand and marketing.
Where it is
In development. We have a business plan, user journey maps and a prototype covering more than 40 screens and states, and I am building the Flutter app from that prototype.
