What it is
YorCycle is a fitness app that adapts your training to the phases of your menstrual cycle. We also run a public YouTube channel that explains each phase in plain language.
How it started
I first built YorCycle for one person, Bami Awonusi. She liked using it enough that we decided to make it for everyone, and she came on as my business partner.
My role
I am the founder and the software engineer. I build the app, its backend and its data layer in Flutter, with Supabase and Firebase. Bami leads the brand and marketing.
What you can do in it
- Follow a built-in plan, or build your own workouts from the exercise library, filtered by the equipment you have.
- Log each set with the exercise, weight and reps, and see your progress and exercise history over time.
- Log period days on a calendar, so the app knows which phase you are in and can predict your next cycle.
- Set reminders, lock the app, and export your data.
How it handles data
Period dates, flow and cycle length stay on the phone they are entered on. Two separate things enforce that: the app only sends fields on an allowlist, and the database has no column for any of them.
If you sign in, your training is backed up to your account. There is no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting in the app.
Where it is
In development. The privacy policy is written and needs a public address before the app can go into the App Store and Google Play.
