What NextDrive is

NextDrive is E.ON Next's smart tariff for electric vehicle owners. It moves charging to the hours when electricity is cheaper and cleaner, usually overnight.

A tariff like this only works if the billing platform, the charge point and the customer's account all agree on when the power was drawn.

The problem

The launch depended on a third-party integration and on a regulated billing path. Neither could be discovered late, and both sat with teams that did not report to the project.

My role

I was a Home Solution Specialist with assistant project management duties. I supported delivery of the launch and led the workstreams the project lead delegated to me, through to go-live readiness.

What I did

  • Worked with Kraken Technologies, part of Octopus Energy, on API and data integration and on system readiness.
  • Coordinated Energy Specialists, Legal, Engineering and Product toward the same milestones.
  • Managed timelines, dependencies and risks in Asana and Jira.
  • Ran stakeholder consultations and requirements elicitation.
  • Owned go-live readiness and the milestone updates that went to the project board, and contributed to the regulatory documentation.

Results

The tariff launched. The work contributed to a 5% improvement in energy efficiency programmes and a 15% reduction in project delays.
